Order Salientia
Frogs range
all across the world, with the exception of Iceland and Antarctica. There
are approximately 4000 species of frogs and toads, from the tiny Peeper
to the brightly colored poison arrow frog, and even the Gastric Brooding
Frog which can turn off its own gastric juices and incubate its young
in it's stomach!
Although there are some species which go through their entire tadpole
stage within the egg, and emerge as frogs, most frogs begin their lives
as aqueous tadpoles, and eventually transform themselves into air-breathing
creatures which can live on land. Many frogs live in ponds and swamps,
but some can live in woodland areas, so long as they can find moisture.
Famed for their leaping abilities, some frogs can jump as much as 20 times
their body length in one leap. The greatest recorded distance in a single
leap belongs to a South African Sharp-nosed frog which leapt 33 feet,
5.5 inches.
Frogs eat insects as their primary food source, although there are frogs
who eat mice and snakes (the South American Horned Frog). Their tongues,
which hinge from the front of their mouths, are covered in a sticky mucus
which aids in catching prey. When a frog eats something poisonous to it,
they can actually regurgitate their entire stomach, which they can then
clean out with a front leg. They do not, drink water, however. Instead,
they absorb it (by osmosis) through their skins.
Frogs are especially known for their singing, which they accomplish through
use of vocal cords and the ability to distend their throat with air, creating
a drum-like effect which greatly magnifies their sound. When there are
several species of frogs living in one area, they often take turns croaking
so that they may be heard by potential mates.
An ancient creature, frogs date from the Early Jurassic period, and were
alive even before most of the major families of dinosaurs. Sadly, the
numbers of frogs now seem to be dwindling. Very sensitive to changes in
the environment, frogs are a keynote species, and damage to them may signal
future danger for us.
Frog Energy
Frog's song calls down the cleansing power of the rain.
Frog is a reminder of the sacred power of tears to tranform and cleanse
away sorrow. Frogs will die if away from moisture for too long, and thus
Frog reminds us to refresh ourselves, and allow joy to moisten our lives
and our hearts. If you are feeling "muddied" by the world, take a moment
to dream, to laugh and cry and renew yourself. Frog also reminds us to
cleanse our bodies, our environments and our auric fields. People with
Frog energy should learn and utilize methods of psychic cleansing.
Frog is able to work equally well in the realms of Earth/Air (conscious)
and in Water (unconscious.), taking in the unconsicious almost by osmosis.
Frog people are often artists, mystics, psychics and healers. They are
often empathic, excellent at reading others and in knowing how to help
them heal.
Care must be taken however, not to become swamped by taking in the emotions
of others. Frog reminds us to cleanse our bodies, our environments and
our auric fields. People with Frog energy should learn and utilize methods
of psychic cleansing so that they do not become bogged down. It is imperative
to learn how to recognize when people, situations and circumstances are
draining energy, and to cleanse them out of your aura so that you may
sing freely.
A tadpole's shape mirrors that of the spermazoa. Frogs are often seen
as a symbol of fertility and creativity. Frog people should nourish their
creative side.
Frog people may go through many metamorphoses during their lives, and
may change careers several times. Balance will come through respecting
these changes and learning to go with the flow.

Read books
about frogs. (see our Bookstore)
Read books about creativity, healing, balancing emotions and mysticism.

Switch to
using cleansers that do not contaminate the water system.
Take a bath -- perferably a long, soothing one, with scented oils.

Go swimming.
Earth (Physical):
Take a walk
near a swamp (carefully) or pond area; or early in the morning, when the
dew is fresh.
Wear green stones, such as aventurine and green tourmaline. (For more
info on these stones, see our page on the Magickal

the sound of your voice, and the feel of your lungs and throat expanding.
Take time every day to meditate and clear your emotions.
Cleanse and purify yourself and your home (and workplace if possible)
For a book on how to do this, see Sacred
